This artwork draws its inspiration from the Azure Pool in Prypiat, located near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This public pool was part of Prypiat’s Palace of Culture, a physically imposing complex from the Soviet era, constructed to offer a wide range of recreational and artistic activities, draped in the banner of political propaganda. Today, nearly four decades after the catastrophe, it stands as a poignant testament to a past of joy and innocence that has vanished. The crystalline waters of the Azure Pool now mirror the faded memories of this bygone era.
